Novelist, Enid Blyton spent time seeking inspiration for some of her most notable works here, and in nearby Studland was where she found the inspiration for Toytown (where Noddy lived).

Treading slightly further afield from the bustling town centre, author Robert Louis Stevenson came to write The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in Westbourne which is also home to a beautiful boutique arcade, comprising of a bakery, book store and many charming cafe’s.
